Technical documentation covering coating remediation, structural composite carbon-core reinforcement, and hand-rubbed mirror gloss finishing for vintage coachbuilt automobiles.
Mercedes-Benz W112 300SE Cabriolet // Rio Rosewood & Carbon Core
Historical salvage and structural reconstruction for a premier-tier collector W112. The dashboard assembly and curved moldings, compromised by previous synthetic film application (hydrographic dipping), were chemically and mechanically stripped down to the original wooden substrates and consolidated with rigid internal carbon fiber cores to eliminate sun-induced warping and seasonal movement.
The woodwork features seasoned vintage Brazilian Rosewood (Dalbergia nigra), arranged with symmetrical bookmatched alignment on the A-pillars and continuous horizontal grain registration across all dashboard panels. The project incorporates the period-correct under-dash Kuhlmeister air conditioning housing and center tunnel tray, protected by our proprietary thin-film high-UV absorption mirror polish cycle.
| Scope | Remediation of improper synthetic coatings, composite core structural stabilization, and complete woodwork rebuild for dashboard, binnacle, A-pillars, and Kuhlmeister AC console. |
| Structure | Original timber substrates restored and integrated with internal carbon fiber reinforcements; total neutralization of thermal expansion and warping during open-top summer driving. |
| Veneers | Seasoned Brazilian Rosewood (Dalbergia nigra). Symmetrical bookmatched pairing on A-pillars and seamless horizontal grain matching across dashboard fascias and glovebox lid. |
| Finish | Proprietary R.A.V. low-thickness mirror gloss, hand-leveled. Zero orange peel distortion and maximum resistance against thermal stress and UV solar radiation. |
